Mrs. Solate Ovundah-Akarolo is an honours graduate of the University of Texas, Austin, U.S.A. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, complemented by a Certificate in Business Management. She also holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the esteemed University of Aston, UK, a Certificate in Executive Project Management from the CWC school for Energy, UK and a PG Diploma in Data Science and Business Analytics.
As the Deputy Managing Director, Solate brings to the Board and Management of Moni Pulo Limited youth, vibrancy, fresh perspectives and an uncommon intellect and insight into modern business practice.
Within her remit in Moni Pulo is the direct oversight responsibility for ensuring the daily smooth and effective administration of the organisation, application of the best global human resource strategies to ensure the recruitment and retention of a professional and motivated workforce. In performing this remit, Solate has devised innovative modes of engendering an open and positive corporate environment, with institutionalized feedbacks and reward mechanisms in place.
She also supervises the activity of all departments of the company to ensure the objectives of the company are achieved. Solate has a goal to ensure the company is constantly moving towards fulfilling its short-term and long-term objectives and does not diverge from its strategic guidelines. A strategist and a leader able to steer the company to the most profitable direction while also implementing its vision, mission and long-term goals. She achieves these by developing and executing the company’s business strategies in order to attain the goals of the board, prepares and implement comprehensive business plans to facilitate achievement by planning cost effective operations. She was instrumental in negotiating multimillion-dollar Facilities with international and Nigerian banks for the organisation. At a time, the daunting global economic challenges, the significant crash in oil price and the drastic persistent decline in oil production of the company came to bear, Solate proactively led the operations/engineering department of the company to engage in the Abana Optimization drilling project which was aimed at increasing the daily production capacity of the wells.
Mrs. Solate Ovundah-Akarolo is also responsible for the activities of the internal/external corporate communications department of Moni Pulo. In this role, she has played a pivotal role in the recent corporate rebranding of Moni Pulo. She continues to actively participate in efforts to project Moni Pulo to its various Publics, using formal and informal media and communications channels. She has commenced the process of automating the business process of the company, which will eliminate redundancy, improve turnaround time and productivity, most importantly save costs for the company.
A member of Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) in 2007, Solate led the Moni Pulo team to successfully bid for 3 new oil blocks. She is also a bear on Moni Pulo’s efforts to build a professional organisation that will serve as the beacon of hope for other indigenous industries. Solate makes valuable strategic inputs to the visionary leadership of Moni Pulo Limited. These are evident in her introduction and implementation of the usage of one of the best Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, in overseeing the company’s financial performance to meet international best practices.
Solate is an active member of the Institute of Directors.
