Corporate Social Responsibility updated

Moni Pulo (Petroleum Development) Ltd > Corporate Social Responsibility updated

Drawing strength from the renowned philanthropic nature of our Founder, High Chief Dr. O. B. Lulu-Briggs, OON, DSSRS, DCF, the thrust of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts is on Creating Shared Value (CSV) for our host communities.

“All altruism springs from putting yourself in the other person’s place.”

– Harry Emerson Fosdick

At MPL, we have long recognized the importance of a pragmatic, people-centered approach to community relations. Our CSR philosophy is grounded in the principles of participatory development, where we work alongside our host communities, their state governments, and other stakeholders to identify, plan, and execute sustainable development projects that improve the lives of our host communities.

As a company that prides itself on being The Good Neighbour, our CSR initiatives are focused on the following key areas:

  1. Educational Development
  2. Health and Social Welfare
  3. Skill Acquisition
  4. Economic Empowerment
  5. Sustainable Development Projects
  6. Micro-credit Schemes
  7. Leadership and Capacity Building

Since our inception in 1997, we have maintained a steadfast commitment to delivering impactful projects in each of these areas.

Our CSR activities offer full coverage for all our host communities within our operational areas as well as our administrative base, Rivers State. On the strength of our consistently remarkable partnership with our host communities, we continue to enjoy cordial relations with them.

With the recent enactment of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), 2021, which encourages social, environmental, and economic development of host communities, our CSR strategy has shifted to ensuring strict compliance with the law’s thematic areas, while we shall continue to provide support to NGOs offering reliefs to humanity.
